Oundle, Peterborough and East Northants (OPEN) Learning Partnership
The group has shared aims of increasing opportunity, raising aspirations and allowing the sharing of best practice between local schools from the independent and maintained sectors. The partnership is wide-ranging in nature, encompassing everything from enrichment days in maths and debating to Physics teacher training, engineering challenges and STEM Potential, a programme supporting university access. An Imperial College London Outreach fellow, employed by Oundle School, teaches lessons in OPEN Learning Partnership schools as well as running after-school science clubs, while the OPEN Summer STEM Festival sees Oundle open its doors for a week-long event allowing over 3000 children from across the country take part in a wide variety of practical workshops, demonstrations and shows. The partnership has also joined together with other ISSPs to create ExpertEdLive, sharing speakers and resources across the country to give as many children as possible a richer and broader experience. From a modest 1500 in its first year, the partnership’s reach has grown with over 10,000 people attending academic enrichment opportunities in the last 12 months, while 360 have taken part in extended courses or programmes and an additional 20,000 have joined online.
