Young Enterprise/Spirax Sarco Ten Pound Challenge Event

Bournside School hosted an event presented by employees of Spirax Sarco, a global company based in Cheltenham, sponsored by Young Enterprise. This was for Year 10 Business Studies pupils to help them to think about companies and how to make a profit.

Aims

This was an academic enrichment activity to stimulate GCSE Business Studies pupils. It required the support and expert input of the Spirax Sarco Team, as well as the patronage of the Young Enterprise organisation.

Background

Leo Kelly, Head of Business Studies at Bournside offerd this opportunity to the Cheltenham Educaiton Partnership, which was taken up by David Evans and Dean Close's Head of Business Studies, Jonathan Hardaker.

Resources

Dean Close just provided the students and staff to accompany them. 2 staff attended for a morning of 4 hours.

Impact

The impact was adjudged by the Head of Business Studies on his pupils.

Pupil Involvement

Independent and state school pupils were integrated within different groups working on the challenge. The 8 Dean Close pupils were Year 10 GCSE Business Studies students.

Frequency

This was a one-off activity but could lead to pupils taking up the National Ten Pound Challenge.
