Year 6 Team Maths Competition

Since 2009, LGS has hosted an annual Maths Competition for Year 6 pupils from a wide range of Primary Schools, as well as our own Junior School and Prep.

Each year there are usually 10 to 12 teams of 4 pupils including LGJS, LGS Prep (2 teams), LGS Stoneygate, plus some from St Cuthbert's, Church Langton, St Thomas More, Great Bowden, Kibworth, Overdale Fleckney, Foxton, Arnesby.

Three LGS members of staff organise and run the day, LGS Sixth Form students help with marking papers and additional Sixth Form helpers are allocated to each team. In total, around 16 LGS students are involved.

Aims

To foster relationships with other local Primary Schools. To provide an opportunity to stretch and challenge Year 6 pupils, particularly those that are able mathematicians. To introduce pupils to children from other schools and encourage social interaction.
