Wycliffe Junior Fencing Club
The club was set up to provide access to fencing to those in the local community, local schools and clubs. The club provides open access for all abilities. We encourage social as well as competitive fencers ranging in age from7 to 18 years old.
Aims
To provide access to sword fencing classes and coaching to the local community.
Background
The club was established by Wycliffe's Fencing Coach having identified a demand for sword fencing amongst local children. It has been running for over 10 years.
Resources
The classes are held in Wycliffe's Sports Hall, using Wycliffe funded equipment and coaches. Each class is 2 hours in duration, and meets once per week during term time.
Impact
A number of the club members have won medals across a range of competitive events.
Pupil Involvement
There are regularly 20 members of the club. The fencers range from 10 - 17 years old and are both male and female.
Frequency
The club meets weekly, and is expected to continue for the forseeable future.
