Wimbledon Guild with King's College School
Sixth-form pupils are needed to join a group providing one-to-one support for elderly people with their use of smartphones and iPads. This highly successful project (it even has a waiting list) is based at the Wimbledon Guild, a local charity in Wimbledon.
Aims
This project teaches our sixth- formers patience, an ability to communicate with many different people and helps our elderly in the local community with some basic familiarity with technology.
Impact
Reflection sessions take place throughout the academic year.
The key skill areas in which King's pupils demonstrated positive impact were communication, compassion and confidence.
Pupil Involvement
Four year twelve and thirteen pupils, girls and boys.
Frequency
Ongoing; every Friday afternoon; every academic year.
