Wellness Week
A four day event involving partner schools, focusing on 'Women’s Rights – Taking Action.'
Aims
This event follows on from our Women's Wellness Week, which explored language and worked to break taboos around the female body, sexuality, menstruation and pregnancy, nutrition, wellness and illness.
This year, we want to extend the learning to exploring women's rights in detail, and to arm our young people with the skills to take action.
We have changed the title of the event to Wellness Week, to ensure inclusivity for our whole community of students, parents and staff.
Resources
This is a replicable project with partner schools sharing the resources prepared for the week. They will attend some of the talks, workshops and closing conference.
Our Deputy Head (Co-curriculum, Community and Development) will be delivering a Women in Work drama workshop to Year 7 children at Sacred Heart High School and The Cardinal Wiseman School during the week.
The event will run from Monday 10th until Thursday 13th February, finishing with a conference on the last day to which representatives from all our partner schools will be invited to share their learning.
Impact
Wellbeing and proactive approaches to this are a major concern for schools. A total of 5,106 pupils attend the five schools taking part in the event and benefitting from resources.
Pupil Involvement
A number of pupils and teachers will learn from the Drama Workshop. The inclusion of boys in these topics is part of our wider Mission Statement - we empower girls by educating boys.
Students and staff from our partner schools will share our resources and be invited to attend the sessions, as well as the closing conference on Thursday 13th February. Our school is all girls, but two of our partner schools are mixed, one all girls and one boys.
Frequency
This is a biannual event.
