Wellbeing Wednesday Parent Talks
A series of evening on-line “Wellbeing Wednesday” parent talks on a variety of PSHE
(Personal, Social and Health Education) topics were organised by LEH and were advertised
to our local state schools. They were well attended by parents from the schools virtually during the lockdown of Spring 2021 when the talks were taking place weekly. Once once restrictions were lifted and schools were back in person, we have continued to run these talks on a half termly basis and continue to be virtual to allow more parents at different local schools to access the talks in the comfort of their own home.
Aims
During the 2021 Spring lockdown it was felt that both parents and students alike could benefit from access to a specialist, each week on a different topic, relating to the current issues facing families in lockdown. As this was taking place virtually, it meant local families at other schools could also benefit from the expertise and information being made available which was aimed to support families during a difficult period and help them feel they were not alone.
Resources
The talks were set up using a TEAMS event each time, for which parents signed up for free to access the link. Recordings of each talk were made available to school parents to view after the event.
Frequency
Wellbeing Wednesday talks continue on a half termly basis throughout the academic year to continue to support both parents and students. For each talk over 150-200 families register to attend.
