Watling View School & St Columba’s College Relationship
The link between St Columba’s College and Watling View has been running since 2007 and is now an established part of school life. Over the years the link has predominately been led by approximately 8-12 Sixth Form students who have assisted in a range of different classes and activities at Watling View on Wednesday afternoons. Activities have ranged from helping out with their Forest school, assisting with climbing and PE classes. We have also worked with them on other events, such as their Remembrance Day, as well as KS3 Drama workshops, school sports days and invited their students to concerts. Students occasionally fundraise for Watling View, such as selling Top Trumps of teachers.
Aims
The project between the schools has had considerable benefit to both sets of students. It has been beneficial in breaking down boundaries between both sets of students as well as giving staff at the school another ‘pair of hands’ in the classroom. It has also helped provide our students with valuable work experience exposing our students to an at times challenging environment.
