Volunteering at Tupwood Gate Nursing Home
Sixth Form students at Woldingham School regularly support Tupwood Gate Nursing Home in Caterham by visiting residents and day visitors three times per week from the Autumn Term through to the Spring Term.
Aims
This partnership benefits the residents,the students and the nursing home by maintaining and important link with the local community.
Background
Introduced by the school's Chaplain in 2014, the partnership is ongoing.
Resources
Students are taken to the nursing home in the school's minibus three times each week.
Impact
Establishing relationships with the residents provides them with regular social interaction and enables the students to gain a greater understanding of members of the community from a different age group.
Pupil Involvement
Woldingham's students are aged between 16 and 18 years of age.
Frequency
Three visits are made each week from September through to March and the partnership is ongoing.
