Volunteering at The Trussell Trust Foodbank
Volunteering at the Foodbank by sorting food donations.
Aims
Understanding food poverty. Sorting and organsing donations.
Background
We were approached by them for Harvest donations and started working with them on a weekly basis afterwards.
Resources
Our girls walk to the Foodbank. They sort donations and use boxes already at the centre. We donate food items monthly.
Impact
Food is organised so families have the right items. More families have access to food and toiletries as we donate every month. We are helping reduce food poverty locally.
Pupil Involvement
Our Sixth Form students, aged between sixteen and eighteen, are involved in this opportunity.
Frequency
Girls volunteer on a weekly basis and thus they are able to build strong relationships with staff.
