University lectures
Malvern St James Girls' School invites a local school to attend lectures by visiting universities.
These lectures have included;
'London Universities' presentation. This lecture was delivered to students by representatives at King's College London, University College London, London School of Economics and Imperial College - advice available regarding entrance, applications and interviews.
'A Pollutant’s Tale' is a lecture-demonstration now given mainly by a staff member at the School of Chemistry, University of Bristol and, occasionally,
The lecture covers-
the composition of the Earth’s atmosphere in comparison to other planets
a brief description of the structure of the atmosphere
investigation of some of the chemistry and properties of nitrogen and oxygen
a few of the tropospheric pollutants including carbon dioxide
Throughout the lecture there are demonstrations including some involving liquid nitrogen, oxygen foam, dry ice and a few explosions. With senior audiences the longer version also includes climate change.
'Population & The Environment', a lecture delivered by the University of East Anglia. A lively interactive lecture followed by well throughout questions and debate.

To expose students to a variety of topics delivered by further education facilities.
To offer students advice regarding higher education opportunities in London.
Impact
Opportunities for pupils to learn more about higher education opportunities in London.
Approximately 30 external visitors. Extremely positive feedback received from staff members at the end of the presentation.
