TVLP Hope Competition Book
During the academic year 2019-20, the TVLP launched their creative Hope competition, in response to Coronavirus and the resulting school closures and lockdown.
There were 3 categories: poems, short stories, and posters.
A call for entries was made across the partnership, with student work from 3 schools being shortlisted. These were (listed in alphabetical order) Eton College, Slough & Eton C of E Business & Enterprise College, and The Windsor Boys’ School.
To ensure impartiality and fair judging, each piece of work was sent to an external judge unnamed. A publisher judged the short story entries, a motion graphics designer judged the poster entries, and a published poet judged the poem entries
Aims
To encourage creative writing, and art & design, during the lockdown and to enable schools that wanted, to set this as a piece of homework, with the TVLP Coordinator, rather than an individual teacher, managing the competition and creating the resulting book.
To highlight the work of shortlisted students outside of their direct school environment and to showcase this in a book which they could list on their future UCAS statements and CVs.
Background
All 8 TVLP secondary-aged schools were invited to take part.
