The Send a Hug project
A project designed to lighten the summer 2020 Covid-19 lockdown for local residents of Abingdon.
Aims
To send support and good wishes to residents of Stowford House Care Home during the period of March–June lockdown.
Resources
30 St Helen's students sent crocheted and knitted 3D hearts with personal messages to residents at Stowford House, with guidance and leadership from the school Chaplain.
Impact
The presents were received with heartfelt thanks from Stowford House residents. One message from a resident read:
‘Thank you so much for the lovely heart present. It’s hanging high up on the wall so that it’ll be the first thing I see when I wake up, and the last thing I see when I go to sleep.
I am very impressed at the detailed and careful work that has been put into making it. Also the beautiful design of the flowers.
As I’m writing this I’ve almost got a tear in my eye.
Thanks again for such a lovely surprise.’
