The Greatest Britons
Pupils from Sir John Lawes School, a local secondary school, were invited to take part in this event, during which they worked in mixed groups with pupils from AH to research who they thought was the Greatest Briton and then present to the group before a vote was taken.
Aims
The aim of the initiative has been for pupils to work with peers from another school to develop interpersonal skills. Developing arguments and presentation skills have also been key goals.
Resources
Activity resources, staffing and lunch.
Impact
The pupils worked in mixed groups/pairs where they had to collaborate with pupils they didn’t know and develop understanding of the significance of historical figures and justify their choices. They were able to improve their evaluation and interpretation skills.
