Termly round up of charity activities and impact Winter Term 2023

The Autumn term always begins with the Macmillan Coffee morning, which the Prep School hosted, and culminates in a Cathedral Collection for a charity chosen by the Seaford Students. This year, the students voted for Sussex Snowdrop Trust – a local charity providing community nursing care at home for children who have life-threatening or terminal illness. All our charity endeavours are recorded in the termly newsletters, so have a browse to see what the school has achieved.

As a whole school, we have an overarching commitment to support the Trussel Trust Foodbanks in our local community by providing Kids Lunch Packs (KLPs) to those children who receive free school meals during term time, and nothing extra during the long holidays. The KLPs are a vital lifeline to those children and their parents, who will struggle to provide three meals a day when the children are not in school. The need for this service is, sadly, increasing every year. Currently, the Chichester District Foodbank has been tasked to supply over 1000 boxes over the Christmas period, so our 260 KLPs that we packed and donated recently, makes a huge impact. Ines Garcia, from the Midhurst and Petworth Foodbank says, “It is something we appreciate very much indeed, and we do ensure that all of our Petworth and Midhurst Team know that they come from Seaford College? There will be lots of grateful families in both areas - we do hear back about how much the KLPs help.”

The Midhurst and Petworth Rotary Club received all the toy donations and sent us this message of thanks, “The large amount of high-quality toys, games, puzzles, books, etc. were distributed equally between the Midhurst Foodbank and 'Family Support Work'.
