Teacher and Coach Development Day
The Teacher and Coach Development Day was hosted by Pocklington School on behalf of England Schools Rugby Union. Sports teachers and coaches from independent and state schools in Yorkshire were invited to attend the event, which was advertised as an inset day for sports personnel. State schools which attended were:
Wolfreton School and Sixth Form College
Wales High School
Selby High School
Aims
The aim of the inset day was to provide career development/learning opportunities for sports coaches and teachers.
Background
The event was organised in association with England Schools Rugby Union who were looking for schools willing to volunteer to host the event. Approximately 20 similar events have been organised throughout the country.
Resources
The event was run from one meeting room, with IT support and stationary. Sports pitches and rugby equipment were also used. Delegates at the event received lunch and tea/coffee.
Impact
England Schools Rugby Union will collect data from surveys sent to delegates who attended.
Pupil Involvement
Six state school teachers attended the event.
Frequency
It is envisaged that this event will be repeated annually.
