Support for GCSE Music Students in Music Studio

Our Music Department supported GCSE Music students from St Gregory's College, Bath with access to the recording studio, mixing desk and all the equipment required for them to record their compositions.

Aims

To share Music facilities, in particular the Music Studio, with local state schools enabling their students to access equipment and prepare their GCSE Music Technology recordings for examination submissions.

Background

This partnership came about when the Director of Music reached out to his network of contacts at maintained schools and identifying their needs and how Royal High School Bath Music Department could help.

Resources

Royal High School Bath Music School facilities - in particular - use of recording studio and support from two members of staff over two days.

Impact

Ten St Gregory's GCSE Music Tech students were enabled to prepare examination pieces.

Improved social cohesion and collaborative working between the two schools.

This was the first year we have offered this support, but will continue and extend range of support for other schools.
