Students Phone Elderly Old Wellingtonians
During lockdown, our Sixth Former students are telephoning elderly members of the Old Wellingtonian community, just to check they are OK
Aims
Make regular weekly contact with some members of the community who may not have anyone to chat to.
Sixth Formers have been having lovely conversations with the elderly strangers, reminiscing about staff and buildings, talking about their lives and sharing memories.
Background
Mindful of the loneliness that can result from lockdown, we wanted to include members of the community who are not in regular touch with us. Sixth form students are making calls just to check in on these people, so they hear a friendly voice, have some stimulating conversation and some human contact.
Pupil Involvement
Sixth Formers - aged 16-18, male and female
