St Richard's Hospice Lights of Love Service

The Senior choir of King's Hawford, a King's School Worcester Prep School regularly attend the St Richard's Hospice 'Lights of Love' Service.

A poignant service which is held in memory and celebration of loved ones. The service is a time to reflect on, celebrate and remember the wonderful people who have made a difference to our lives, particularly those who are loved and no longer with us.

St Richard’s Hospice has held “Lights of Love” events in Worcestershire for more than twenty years and King’s Hawford have performed in the afternoon service since 2018 and are delighted to have been invited to perform in their 40th Anniversary Celebration Service on 1st May, 2024.

Aims

The primary aim of the partnership with St Richard's Hospice is to support with a musical contribution throughout the poignant service which is held in memory and celebration of loved ones.

Most recently the Choir performed three pieces during the service. Following the service, it was wonderful to hear so much praise from the congregation for the children’s beautiful singing. Everyone enjoyed the occasion and the opportunity to sing in such an incredible acoustic.

Whilst quantitative assessment for such an event is not feasible, the qualitative impact is significant.

The event, hosted in Worcester Cathedral is always at capacity with the impact of attendees clearly visible throughout the service. Frequency

The School has provided St Richards Hospice with the Senior Choir for the 'Lights of Love' Service since 2018 and it is the School’s intention to maintain this relationship.
