St Hilary's unites with Moss Lane School for Blast Off
St Hilary's School welcomed 60 children from nearby Moss Lane School in Godalming to spend the day with their Year 2 children for Blast Off - a performance all about space, inspired by Tim Peake’s visit to the International Space Station. In the lead up to the event, the Head of Music at St Hilary’s, had visited Moss Lane School to teach the children various space-themed songs. The children then visited St Hilary’s to rehearse with their counterparts ahead of a performance in the afternoon to both sets of parents.
On the morning of the performance, the children also enjoyed a fantastic drama workshop with St Hilary’s Head of Speech and Drama, where they created weird and wonderful aliens and explored fantastic space landscapes. All the children performed to a packed audience at the end of the afternoon, showcasing their music and drama and sharing wacky art work and space facts.
The Headmistress at St Hilary’s says “Music plays an important role at our school and what better way to demonstrate to our pupils our school motto of ‘Not for ourselves, but for others’ than to share our expertise with the local community. We hope to have inspired and excited all the pupils involved and we hope it will be the first of many such initiatives.”
