St Adrian's Academic Support
This is a Sixth Form service project. 5-10 students support children at St Adrian's with their general learning, and specifically reading, every Wednesday afternoon during the academic year.
Aims
All our Sixth Form students are encouraged to engage in service work, either in school or in the local community. A small number of students go to the local primary school once a week to support younger children with their learning needs. It is mutually beneficial exercise, bringing out the best in our Sixth Formers.
Background
This has been running for 5 years.
Resources
One staff member transports our students to the school every Wednesday afternoon using the school minibus. We surply the DBS checks and pay for it.
Impact
Helping to rasie reading standards and instilling confidence in primary school students
