Sport Tournament

St Michael's has organised and staffed sporting tournaments for 8-10 local primary schools in both football and netball. These were well attended and enjoyed by the children and parents from the local schools.

Aims

To open the facilities of the school to local primaries and to allow for a local tournament to take place.

Background

The initiative was first started pre-Covid and St Michael's has been very pleased to re-introduce the tournaments as schools have opened up.

Resources

We have multiple pitches and staff that allow us to facilitate these tournaments. This allows the staff from the primary schools to focus on their children, as often there is an expectation at events of this nature for the visiting staff to referee/ umpire some of the fixtures.

Impact

The enjoyment of the participants and the comments from visiting staff and parents give us the anecdotal feedback that affirms to us the positive impact these tournaments have.

Pupil Involvement

Each school brought one team and all were involved at some level. The staff from the individual schools were responsible for determining the amount each child from their team played.

Frequency

This is an annual event.
