Specialist Primary Sport CPD
4 sessions per year delivered by SHS Boys' Prep PE Staff to local PE teachers/PE leads in the Kingston Borough Sports Partnership. 1 hour of CPD including practical/theory is delivered to them with an opportunity to ask questions at the end.
Each school can send 1 member of staff.
Each session focuses on a range of PE topics (Pedagogy, Sport Education, KS1 Multi Skills Ideas, Warm Up Ideas).
Aims
· To support local PE teachers/Lead in PE with the delivery of PE. This can stem from warm up games, flow and structure of a lesson, specific pedagogies to implement in PE lessons.
· Build a network with local schools where we can support each other.
· Build the confidence of PE teachers to delivery high quality lessons.
Background
Most of the teachers in KSSP have had minimal PE training during their degrees. Their needs were highlighted in an email and CPD sessions were tailored to suit the requests.
The Surbiton Boys Prep Lead PE Teacher came up with the idea and had support from specialists in certain areas to deliver specific CPD sessions. Early discussions with SB from Kingston Borough Sports Partnership team helped to put plans in place.
