Sixth Formers host Residential Accommodation residents
15-20 residents at Morris Court were hosted by 14 Sixth Formers and entertained with a musical concert followed by tea.
Aims
The visit is part of the school's Community engagement programme and not only gives the visitors an enjoyable day, since many of them do not go out very much, but also develops the social skills of the Sixth Form hosts. Providing the opportunity, the facilities and willing and friendly students enables this to be a success.
Background
These visits have been taking place for many years as part of the school's Community Action programme. Housemistress Julie Kent sets these up as the staff member responsible for the programme.
Resources
School facilities and 2/3 staff members are used to make this visit happen. The visit last for 2 hours.
Impact
The impact is measure qualitatively by the letters of thanks from the visitors, as well as the positive feedback from the pupils.
Pupil Involvement
The pupils are all Sixth Formers, many of whom have musical talents.
Frequency
These visits happen twice each year.
