Sixth Form Tutoring Programme

11 students from the sixth form on the hill provided a free online tutoring service for girls in Years 10 to 12 who may have been struggling with aspects of GCSE and A-level learning at home during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Covering a range of subjects including English Language and Literature, French, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, Psychology, Politics, Economics and Maths, the Year 13 students felt they were able to bring an up-to-date perspective on the curriculum. They wanted to help younger girls, who were struggling or maybe felt isolated, with one to one tutorials, useful hints and tips, online resources and video.

Tutees ranged from Years 10 to 12 and interest came from 10 Secondary schools. 29 tutoring sessions took place over the summer term and some sixth formers chose to even continue their sessions into the holidays.

Aims

Their intention was to help those who may not have had parental support or the notes required to help them complete the assignments and school work they had been set. Others may simply have wanted to continue their education during lockdown. The Farnborough Hill girls were all extremely passionate about their learning and wanted to help enthuse other students to adopt the same level of pride in their academic studies.
