Shrek the Musical Juniors 2024

Free performance of our Year 6 Musical for local primary schools on 30 May 2024. 

Aims

To provide an opportunity for primary aged children in the local area the experience and joy of watching live theatre. 

Local schools don't often have the opportunity to take part or attend live theatre so it is important we give them that opportunity. 

Success factors were straightforward - a full house and transport for each school. 

Background

We offer this opportunity most years - Year 6 musical to Primary schools, and our Senior school musical to Secondary schools. 

Resources

We use our inhouse theatre - the Squire Performing Arts Centre, using both teaching (1 x Drama Teacher) and non-teaching staff (2 x theatre support staff)  

No financial contribution required. 

Impact

We use verbal and written feedback from each school - which is always very complimentary. 

Pupil Involvement

We invited pupils from state schools and independent from Y5 - 6 and both boys and girls. 

There were 187 from state schools and 37 from  independent schools. 

Frequency

Takes place annually for as long as we continue to do Musicals.
