Aims

The workshops were based on our Science @Home work, covering making pH indicators from cabbage, neutralisation, slime and chromatography. Teams of Year 10 and Lower Sixth students worked with small groups of students under the supervision of staff to get them doing hands-on science. Some materials (cabbage, utensils) were locally sourced, and we provided some other materials by post (PVA glue, contact lens solution) to make sure no one was disenfranchised.

There was huge enthusiasm from the schools. This was in lock down, so many of their students were remote and this was the first hands-on science many had done for months.
