Science staff providing CPD to local primary school teachers
GHS Science staff visiting local primary school to deliver CPD to staff of two schools on delivering the primary school science curriculum.
Aims
To help to upskill teachers at two local state primary schools - Holy Trinity School and Worplesdon School – who are required to teach science but who are not science specialists. To teach teachers how to explain scientific concepts most effectively and provide ideas for stimulating classroom activities including practicals, and thus to increase their competence, confidence and enthusiasm for science. By developing teachers, the aim is to increase the quality of pupil achievement, motivation and interest in science.

Impact
Sessions attended by all teachers involved in teaching Science at Holy Trinity School, as well as five teachers from Worplesdon School. It is hoped that this will, therefore, be of benefit to all pupils at Holy Trinity School and to many at Worplesdon School. Increased competence and confidence of up-skilled teachers will enhance pupil achievement and interest in science.
