Schools' Voices - A joint choral project

This has been years in the planning, but together with the Bath Festival, and ten schools from across Bath, we are finally launched and the first multi-school workshops are underway at the Forum.

Pupils are being brought together to develop songs, take part in a creative process of writing, composing and then performing together at the Bath Festival this summer.

Aims

Bring pupils together around a creative, community building project.

Develop confidence and enjoyment of performing music to a wider audience.

Teamwork, collaboration with a wide group of peers.

Musical enrichment and learning.

Background

It began with a conversation over two years ago about collaboration and creativity between Monkton and the organisers of the Bath Festival. The pandemic has made it all the more important to bring pupils together and build confidence and community.

Resources

Some schools have contributed £500 to enable match funding to be raised.

Schools have to commit to bringing a group of 10 pupils to the workshops and performances over a period of 3 months.

Impact

100 pupils will directly benefit from this creative and enriching experience. A further number of staff will benefit from developing cross-school links and being engaged in this initiative.

Finally, audiences will enjoy the end products!

Pupil Involvement

100 pupils from both independent and state schools between the ages of 11 - 13.

Frequency

This is a programme of song writing workshops leading up to rehearsals and performances at St Swithin's Church and the Forum during the Festival in May 2022.
