Saturday Plus
30 Year 5 pupils from 5 local Primary Schools will follow a programme of lessons building on the curriculum to focus on the skills and knowledge required for 11+ entrance exams, alongside the development of their academic engagement and confidence.
Aims
The programme is designed to provide a boost for all entrance exams set by Grammar and Independent Schools. Parents and carers have been invited to get involved at certain points if they wish, we will provide information about financial support available for independent schools, and the way entrance procedures and tests work.
Background
Pupils will be invited to participate on the basis of recommendations from their schools. The programme is intended for Pupil Premium/Ever 6 children with the potential to thrive at a selective secondary school, or pupils outside of those categories where schools feel pupils may benefit due to educational or socio/economic factors (e.g. ‘1st Gen’ families).
Resources
There will be one Saturday Plus session per month starting in January 2023. Each session will run from 9.20am until 12.30 and will be held at Caterham School. We would like pupils to stay for lunch from 12.30 to 1pm if they can. Caterham School will assist with transport to and from the sessions. The course will be cost free for participants, using Caterham School staff and facilities.
