Ruth Strauss Foundation Cricket Week
A four-day cricket festival in which all nine Sherborne cricket matches will provide fundraising opportunities for RSF, including through sale of souvenir programme and collections.
Aims
To raise money for the Ruth Strauss Foundation, tying in with ‘Red for Ruth Day’ at Lord’s. As long as the weather holds, the matches can be played (nine in total) and funds can be raised.
Background
RSF contacted a range of schools to seek their support, to which we have responded with this programme as an exciting start to our support.
Resources
The week will last four days, using the school’s sporting facilities and Sherborne International to accommodate our opposition. A range of teaching and non-teaching staff will be involved. There will be costs to the School, associated with running sports fixtures, and also to the visitors staying here.
Impact
There will be no formal assessment, beyond a calculation of the funds raised. Obviously, it is for RSF to decide on how best to utilise these.
Pupil Involvement
This will involve pupils across all age groups, from Under 14 (year 9) to 1st XI (year 13), as well as staff. From our visitors, Cheltenham, Haileybury and Stowe year 9 pupils will be involved, and a tour party of pupils from St. Peter’s Adelaide (ages unknown).
Frequency
We hope that this will become an annual event.
