Rowing Experience
This autumn has seen the renewal of our Rowing Experience partnership with Combe Down Primary School.
Over a 6 week period, groups of Year 6 pupils have had the opportunity to try out rowing, learning about safety on the water and spending a morning outside having a taster session.
Aims
The aim of this partnership is to work together with Combe Down to provide pupils in the area with a unique, outdoor experience trying a skill that might otherwise not be accessible.
Background
It was an opportunity that we identified as a partnership because it would enrich the pupils' experience.
Resources
This initiative has been organised together with two staff members from each school. It requires the use of Monkton minibuses and the boathouse and equipment once a week for a morning.
Impact
60 pupils from Combe Down are given this experience. Qualitative data is collected at the end, capturing pupil experience.
Pupil Involvement
60 year 6 pupils from Monkton's partner school benefit from this experience.
Frequency
This has become an annual series due to its success last year. We hope it will continue and develop in the long term as a regular partnership initiative.
