Rotary Club Porchlight Sleepout
The Sleepout Challenge will take place at St Edmund's school.
The Rotary Sleep Out challenge is about putting yourself in the shoes of someone who is homeless for a night. It's a chance to raise vital funds for Porchlight and also gain a better understanding of what rough sleepers really go through.
During the evening, there will be several talks by Porchlight staff and people who it has helped, and a screening of a classic BBC film which highlights the problem of homelessness. By inviting the key decision makers from major local businesses and other organisations, we aim to raise awareness of the problem of homelessness and raise much needed funds which will not just save but transform lives
Background
The ever increasing number of people facing homelessness in Kent is a serious concern. Last year, Porchlight found 834 people sleeping rough... five years ago that number was just 148.
Porchlight helps people escape the streets. It also gives them support to rebuild their confidence, regain their health and develop the skills needed to leave homelessness behind for good.
