Robotic Workshop
We set up a robotic workshop for Ernesford Academy.
During each academic year, we hold Masterclasses in various subjects for talented pupils from local primary schools.
They particularly suit Years 4 to 6 pupils who have an interest and ability in their subjects and wish to explore their potential. The classes are primarily fun, but also help to develop confidence and prepare the girls for the move to secondary school.
Leicester High offered pupils the opportunity to participate in an exciting Robot Wars competition for a session of battles and programming challenges.
Aims
The aim was to empower young minds from local state schools to explore and excel in the world of innovation and technology.
The critical factor for success is providing them with access to quality education, mentorship and opportunities for hands-on learning experiences.
Background
The Masterclasses/workshops were originally devised as a means to offer opportunities to girls from local state schools, raising their aspirations and introducing them to topics in a fun and interesting way.
Resources
The workshop took place in the Senior School, using the facilities available there. It was run by teaching staff, with support from non-teaching staff. This workshop lasted 1 hour and involved 1 teaching staff and one non-teaching member of staff.
Impact
Assessment is being developed to address this area.
Pupil Involvement
10 girls attended the workshop from Years 5-6.
Frequency
Our Masterclass/workshop takes place each half-term.
