Residential Easter Booster Programme
Local secondary school (Royal Harbour Academy) used St Lawrence College boarding facilities to host a residential Easter booster programme for their GCSE students with a view of doing so annually.
Aims
The objective is to enable students to experience a focused academic environment for a more prolonged period of time than might normally be possible in a day school. The aim is to provide the opportunity forĀ students to practise study skills which they can use in preparation for their summer examinations and beyond.
Background
The partnership came about through cooperation between the neighbouring schools and a keen desire on the part of both leadership teams to share ideas, best practice and facilities. The Booster Programme took place for the first time this year.
Resources
The programme makes excellent use of the school's empty boarding facilities over the Easter holiday and is delivered by teachers from The Royal Harbour Academy, so those familiar with the students being taught.
Impact
The anticipated impact is a better mastery of revision skills and raised aspirations for those involved, leading to improved examination results.
