Primary School Robotics Club
At the beginning of the Autumn Term 2018, a group of three Year 12 students girls started running a Robotics Clubs for Year 5 and Year 6 girls a City Primary School, which is attended weekly by up to 20 girls.
The two teams from Sir John Cass's Foundation Primary School participated in a National Level event at CLSG in February 2018.
The club continued in 2019, supported by a different group of Year 12 students.
Aims
To improve pupils robotics knowledge and skills, with a view to progressing to competition level.
The need is to encourage girls to consider STEM as a future career path.
The immediate beneficiaries are the female students at Sir John Cass.
Background
This partnership was established by a group of Year 12 students, who enjoyed the opportunity they had to participate in Robotics and felt they would like to share their enjoyment and experience with other students
Resources
Volunteer students from Year 12.
Robotics Kit. CLSG bought two robot kits for the primary school, and a playing field for the robots.
CLSG would need to continue to fund the purchase of game field pieces as the game changes each year, and registration fees for the school and the teams. There may be a future need for more equipment or replacement of equipment in addition to this.
The current financial contribution for registration and game pieces would be approximately £500 per year. Growth or extension of this project would require further financial commitment.
