Primary music and theatre partnerships

Earlier this summer, pupils from our school took part in a mass choir performance of the choral piece Ahoy! at Oxford Town Hall as part of Oxford Festival of the Arts. Year 5 pupils from the following schools also took part: New Marston Primary, Windmill Primary, Bayards Hill Primary, John Henry Newman Academy, Abbey Woods Academy, MCS Junior School, Headington Prep and Rye St Antony Prep.

Students from a local state school also visited Headington to take part in a Greek day. Activities included learning how to create a myth, making Greek style food, how the Greeks created drama, studying Greek Gods and heroes.

In a separate initiative, children from four primary and prep schools joined together in harmony for the third Primary Connect Series. The concert brought together the vocal talents of pupils at Barton Park, St Andrew’s and Windmill primaries with Headington Prep School, ably conducted by Headington Prep's Head of Music.

Aims

These initiatives are aimed at fostering a sense of community and collaboration and a love for singing among the more than 180 enthusiastic young singers involved. The Primary Connect Series revolves around the passion for music and the joy of learning through song.
