Prep School's Orchestra Day

26 Feb

King's were able to host an all day Orchestra Day enabling 80+ young musicians to work with our Music staff.

We were able to bring together a collection of musicians to rehearse and play two pieces as a combined Orchestra with Woodwind, Brass, Percussion & String sections.

The visitors came from across the local area and included our friends from Balfour Junior School, Chatham.

Aims

To enable like-minded musicians to play together. To give pupils from local schools to play together in a large group and learn ensemble skills.

Resources

7 staff members of the King's Music department and various equipment and percussion instruments

Impact

We all had a great day and really appreciated the opportunity and experience. I don't think I have an awful lot of suggestions to make. I felt like the timetable for the day was good, as it didn't feel too rushed and there were decent breaks, while at the same time, the children worked hard and were very productive.

We would love to be involved again next year if the event happens again.

King’s music trip
Thank you to King’s School for inviting some of our pupil musicians to join them for the day on Monday. Our pupils were able to play their instruments as part of the orchestra, learning and performing 'Mars' from 'The Planets' by Gustav Holst and the Doctor Who theme tune. It was a wonderful opportunity for pupils to meet new people and develop their musical skills.

Pupil Involvement

This event was for pupils for School Year 4 to 9.
