Physics Olympics

Withington hosted the Physics Olympics, a physics-based competition for Year 9 pupils from various local maintained schools. 

Background

The competition aims to show pupils the benefit of studying physics, and increase enjoyment of the subject in a fun, competitive atmosphere.

Resources

The competition was run by a Withington Physics teacher assisted by the School’s Physics Technician.

Impact

The Physics Olympiad provides students with an opportunity to engage with the study of physics outside the classroom. It takes students beyond the confines if the standard curriculum, and stimulates enthusiasm for the subject.

20 maintained school pupils attended.
