Partnerships Society: STEM Workshops
Two of our Year 13 students are leading in the development of a series of Maths and Science Workshops for Year 5/6 students rom Hotham Primary School.
Aims
- To harness student voice and allow our sixth form students to shape their own partnership project.
- To offer local primary school students the opportunity to develop their maths and science skills and inspire them in the subject.
- To offer local primary school students the opportunity to learn in a secondary school environment, to feed into preparation for transition into senior school.
Background
The project began through the enthusiasm of our sixth form students, who founded our first 'Partnerships Society'.
They were keen to pass on their enthusiasm for Maths and Science and support the learning of Year 5/6 students and well as offering inspiring and exciting activities.
Resources
Science Labs and equipment. Specialist teaching staff and technicians.
Impact
The sixth form students will gather feedback on the project once it has been completed.
Pupil Involvement
Visiting students will comprise groups of 15/16 Year 5/6 students.
Putney High students in Year 13 will help facilitate the project.
Frequency
2 workshops scheduled for this academic year so far.
