Partnership Work with One in A Million Free School
In 2017. Woodhouse Grove School formed a new collaboration with The One In A Million Free School (TOIAMFS), Bradford. The School is located in the shadow of Valley Parade – the home of Bradford City Football Club – and was set up by One In A Million, a Bradford-based charity; with the aim of working with children and young people in areas of deprivation within the City. This partnership with OIAM Free School aspires to encourage students to consider what lies beyond their existing social, intellectual and cultural experience and will enable staff to share best practice in teaching and learning, keeping the interests of both schools’ pupils as the focus.
The schools regularly meet to play music together and have hosted a public speaking event along with inviting OIAM pupils and staff to attend concerts.
A very special element of the collaboration sees Woodhouse Grove award two full Sixth Form bursary places per annum to promising OIAMFS Year 11 leavers – a tangible expression of the Grove’s commitment towards increasing social mobility by widening educational opportunities in the local area.
