Partnership with William Morris Primary School

The Tudor Hall School has an ongoing partnership with William Morris Primary School. This partnership includes activities such as provision of teaching and lessons, art workshops and drama productions, donation of essential equipment and professional support for teachers.

Provision of teaching and lessons;

There are a number of teaching staff from Tudor Hall who go to William Morris Primary school on a weekly basis to deliver lessons in a variety of subjects, including dance, drama, music and sport. William Morris uses these specialist teachers to help class teachers and offer opportunities which the children would not normally have.

A Tudor Hall English teacher went into William Morris to help prepare them for their GCSE English exam.

Our French teachers went to William Morris Primary School to deliver some taster French lessons.

Our geography teacher went to a local primary school to raise awareness of the world in which the children live. With the title 'Around the world in 20 pictures' the children were introduced to places that they had never seen or heard of before. One of our Science teachers went into a local primary school to give an Assembly on 'The Life of a Vet'.

Transforming Lives for Good Early Intervention project is a project where volunteers coach and work on a one on one basis with children, with the overall aim of improving a child's behaviour and in turn raising their levels of learning. Volunteers help children explore their choices and the consequences of the decisions that they make and are trusted support to the child, their teacher and their family.

Sixth form girls have been helping out in lessons and after school clubs at William Morris School. A small group of sixth form students went to William Morris school on a weekly basis to lead maths and reading intervention programmes.

Art workshops, dance and drama productions;

In the lead up to our Senior School Production of William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest”, we hosted an exclusive performance for Years 5 and 6 pupils at William Morris Primary School.

Our Head of Dance has delivered dance lessons all year to the students at William Morris Primary School.

William Morris visited Tudor Hall in January to participate in a ceramics workshop based on the First World War. Tudor Hall provided the tuition, the clay and all resources needed for the day.

Donation of essential equipment;

Online learning proved problematic for many schools during the pandemic. We were able to raise money to purchase ten chrome books and give these to the children of William Morris who did not have a device to use for online learning.

Tudor Hall staff, pupils, parents and governors donated money so that William Morris could purchase essential and non-essential items including iPads for each class to help develop teaching and learning. Other items such as leavers hoodies, transports for residential trips, summer camp places at Tudor Hall and tennis lessons for a disengaged year 6 student.

Professional support for teachers;

Senior members of staff at Tudor Hall, including the Headmistress, have been collaborating with the senior leadership team at William Morris.

Tudor Halls school chaplain was available to the staff at William Morris to help them deal with the day to day challenges that they face.

A Mathematics teacher from Tudor Hall has been seconded to William Morris to run a weekly mathematics session to help a group of teaching assistants achieve their GCSE in Mathematics.
