Partnership with Bardi Symphony Orchestra: concert for GCSE and A Level music students

LGS have a long-standing partnership with the Bardi Symphony Orchestra, who rehearse at LGS twice a month.

Once a year, LGS organises a set works concert with the Bardi orchestra, a perfect opportunity for GCSE and A Level music students to see and hear pieces from their examination syllabi and other related repertoire. Students were asked to bring their mobile phones to make the most of this interactive evening, as they were encouraged to respond to questions during the performances, answers then appearing on the large screen for all to see. The concert featured music from Star Wars, Wicked, and Haydn’s 100th Symphony.

Pupils from Gartree School, Manor High School, and Wigston Academy attended, though Loughborough High and Grammar Schools, Oakham and Kibworth Secondary Schools were also invited.

Aims

The aims of the concert were to utilise existing relationships with the Bardi Orchestra to benefit GCSE and A Level music students from LGS and the local community, providing an opportunity for pupils to see and hear pieces from their examination syllabi and other related repertoire, performed live and at an exceptionally high level.
