Oxbridge Preparation 2021

This year we have again worked as a team in the community, reaching out to a range of schools and working together to support pupils with their interview preparations for Oxbridge. It has been a genuinely mutual partnership that has really enriched this process.

Aims

The aim of this partnership is to support pupils as effectively as possible with their Oxbridge applications, working as a team of schools to provide the best mock interview experience as possible from experts across the community.

Background

This partnership has been developing for some time, but the move to online interviews has made it easier to facilitate in the preparation stages as staff are able to volunteer for shorter slots online, rather than needing to travel to support this initiative.

Resources

This initiative relies on the goodwill of a wide range of teachers, and the oversight of the Assistant Head here at Monkton. 

Impact

Reciprocal arrangements were made with at least 4 schools, and offered to a further 2. Pupils received bespoke interview experiences, followed by detailed feedback.

Feedback from one school included the following comment: "I am so grateful to you for your time; it was such a valuable experience for Jack and I think will really help him to address key points ahead of the interview itself."

Pupil Involvement

Pupils are all 6th form age.

This is an ongoing and developing partnership that takes place in the Michaelmas term each year.
