Orchestral Day

An invitation to local prep and junior schools to come together and join members of the King Edward’s orchestra.  They learn the music in order to perform a concert from a themed programme of known pieces during a single day, for example films.

Aims

To give the young musicians the opportunity to be part of a large orchestra and perform with their own instrument.  The pupils are separated into various categories such as brass, strings, percussion and tutored by King Edward’s staff and visiting music teachers in specially assigned classrooms.

At 3pm parents and teachers from the visiting schools, governors and staff from King Edward’s are invited to watch the concert. Everyone is welcome afterwards to stay for refreshments.  On departure, each pupil is given a goodie bag.

A four-page A4 programme is handed to all visitors.
