No 7 High School, Chengdu
Dean Close has officially partnered with one of the top state schools in China to develop academic exchange programmes for pupils and staff.
Aims
The aim of this partnership is to encourage cultural understanding and exchange opportunities. Pupils today need a global perspective. Mutual respect and a positive engagement are critical factors. Immediate beneficiaries are the pupils and staff involved in visits to China but all Dean Close pupils in future visits from pupils and staff of No 7 High School.
Background
David Evans had a personal contact, who recommended exploring a partnership with No 7 High School. Various visits took place over 2 years which resulted in the signing of a partnership agreement in 2019.
Resources
Financial resources are required for visits to take place and very good IT facilities for on-line activities. Visits are planned biennially.
Impact
Increased global respect and understanding are the anticipated outcomes for both Dean Close and No 7 High School pupils and staff.
Pupil Involvement
Exchange pupils from Dean Close will be Sixth Formers but all pupils will benefit from our partner school visits, as has happened already with the two staff visits.
Frequency
This is an ongoing partnership, although visits have obviously been interrupted by the global pandemic.
