New Engineers Teach Physics pilot scheme

Dulwich College along with six other National Mathematics & Physics SCITT (NMAPS) hubs are proud to be delivering the Department for Education’s ‘Engineers Teach Physics’ pilot (ETP) which aims to create a new targeted pathway to secure more teachers from the engineering sector to help support the national shortage of physics teachers.

Trainees will follow the same excellent physics and professional studies programmes as existing physics trainees, as well as working two placement schools from the start of the year, receiving expert coaching from their mentor during the teaching practise.

Dulwich College is the lead training school for the London Hubs of the National Mathematics & Physics SCITT and provides training, coordinates placements at other schools in the area, conducts interviews and quality assures the development of the trainees. Successful applicants will graduate with both qualified teacher status and a PGCE. Trainees are eligible for the Institute of Physics scholarship or the bursary to support their studies and additional support can be provided if required.
