"Nativity - The Musical" Performances for local state schools

Children in years 4, 5 and 6 from five local state primary Schools were invited to see Pupils from our Prep School participate in the musical The Nativity.

The objective of the event was to give children the opportunity to watch a live theatre show with all aspects of acting, dancing, and musical accompaniment on stage, and technical support behind the scenes, to create a live show.

Over two hundred children and staff were able to join King's for the event. Then over lunch, we were able to answer any questions pupils had about the show and how it was performed.

Aims

The aim of the event is to give children the opportunity to watch a live theatre performance.

Theatres are the best possible place to inspire children, and by opening the doors to these events, we hope to inspire pupils of today, to a love, or future career, in any of the aspects of a threatre.

Background

Every year the King's Prep school invites parents, friends, and families to enjoy a play or musical with 3 or 4 performances.

The performances encourage all our pupils to use their talents and be involved in the drama, musical, dance, technical, and presentation requirements of a show, which has an audience of over 200 people each night.

Resources

The performances are staged in the School Hall with the pupils being supported by the King's School musical, drama, technical and administrative staff and volunteers.

The production takes several months of planning and then approximately 10 weeks of auditions and rehearsals.

Pupil Involvement

Pupils aged from 7 to 13 from King's are involved in the Production and we invite Children from the local state schools, in year groups 4 to 6 to enjoy the performance.
