National Citizen Service partnership with local schools
For the past 3 years, school have been in partnership with the FTCT to deliver the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme. The programme is in partnership with Rossall and 2 local maintained sector schools. The NCS is a 3 week programme aimed at young adults designed to equip them with essential life-long skills.
Aims
This is a vibrant and active community project that aims to provide socially inclusive community, health and education engagement programmes which aim to make a difference to the lives of people within our community. Having successfully attained charitable status, the challenge for the Trust is now to reach even more people and increase the role we play in the local community.
In partnership with the Football League Trust, Cabinet Office and Department for Education, Fleetwood Town Community Trust (FTCT) is delivering the National Citizen Service. NCS brings 16-17 year-olds from different backgrounds in a programme of challenge, service and learning, enabling them to develop the confidence, skills and attitudes they need to become more engaged with their community and to become active and responsible citizens.
Background
The programme was launched at Rossall in 2016 as the links between FTFC and the school started to develop. It was felt that the aims of the NCS programme mirror the expectations and outcomes that Rossall has for its students.
Resources
There is a contribution from the school of facilities and residential stays for the residential week long aspect of the course. The course is run by members of the FT trust.
Pupil Involvement
The pupils involved are in the age range of 16-17 and we are in partnership with Cardinal Allen, a local 11-16 maintained sector school.
Frequency
This is a 3 week event that runs every year. This will be a programme that is an integral part of life for Rossall school.
