Monkton Visits the Life Project, Bath

As part of Monkton's Leadership Programme, 65 year 12 pupils spent time at the Life Project Bath on 15th November, helping to clear and prepare allotments.

Aims

The aim of this was to help pupils connect leadership with service in a practical way, while at the same time providing support and assistance to members of the community.

Background

The case study came about through the growing partnership relationship between the Life Project Bath and Monkton. Monkton pupils have benefitted in recent years from talks about the work undertaken by the Life Project Bath, and this was a chance for our pupils to go out and see it for themselves, as well as to be part of something beyond Monkton.

Resources

In order to achieve this exchange, Monkton needed considerable staff planning time, the use of minibuses to ferry pupils to the various sites, staff supervision and tools.

Impact

The following feedback was received from the Life Project, Bath, following the experience:

"It really was great to have your Year 12’s join us the other week at the Life Project. They worked incredibly hard and were not put off by the awful rain that day.

They really did make a difference both at the allotment and Barn leaving both areas transformed.

We would not hesitate to welcome Monkton students back if a future opportunity arises. They were a credit to the school in this area of practical service and all at the Life Project would like to say a huge Thank you!"

Pupil Involvement

65 year 12 pupils.

Frequency

This experience is part of an ongoing and growing connection between Monkton and the Life Project Bath.
